Life-course immunisation is one of the most cost-effective public health interventions, which helps to keep populations healthy and productive by mitigating health complications, no matter how old they are. While there are clear health and economic benefits, the vaccine uptake rates among the elderly in Southeast Asia remain far below the 75% target set by the World Health Organization. Challenges remain to implement a successful elderly immunisation programme, including political will, reimbursement and access.

Objectives of ideation initiative: 

Encourage understanding on the value of life-course immunisation, especially for the elderly population in Southeast Asia and drives real-world health economics solutions.

Nurture the next generation of healthcare talent to solve the critical gaps in healthcare – in this case, to make the case for increased investment towards life-course immunisation and to propose innovative healthcare financing models that can be utilised to expand immunisation programmes to include the elderly population.
