Eligibility

1. What is the eligibility criteria of the initiative?

There are also two eligible participant categories:

  • Rising Stars: Aged between 18-31 years old, and currently enrolled in an educational institution or with five years or less of professional working experience in healthcare/public policy/health economics
  • Working Professionals: Aged 32 years old and above or with at least eight years of professional working experience in healthcare/public policy/health economics
2. Which countries does “Southeast Asia” refer to?

The initiative is open to submissions that specifically focus on one of the selected Southeast Asia countries listed: Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

3. Can someone who does not reside in Southeast Asia join the initiative?

Yes, anyone who does not reside in Southeast Asia can participate, provided that you meet the eligibility criteria under Question 1 and your submission focuses on the one of the Southeast Asia countries listed under Question 2.

4. Can employees of SEADS, EU-ABC or Sanofi enter the initiative?

No, entries from employees of event organisers, as well as judges and speakers of the initiative will not be accepted.

5. Are group entries accepted (i.e., 2 or more people) or are only individual entries allowed?

Only individual entries are allowed.

6. Is there a specific template for submission? Which document format can we use?

The entry template, which is in Microsoft PowerPoint, can be downloaded here. Interested participants can fill in the form to indicate their interest, and the template will be automatically downloaded. Please follow the instructions provided in the template for completion of the entry. Please remember to submit the entry by 17 November 2023 here.

7. What should be included in the submission?

Your submission should include the following:

Topic: Life-course immunisation, with a focus on the elderly population (aged 65 years and above)

Disease areas: Influenza and pneumococcal disease

Country of interest (choose one): Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam

Points to cover in submission:

a. Life-course immunisation landscape, including:

  • Prevalence
  • Economic burden (in Euros)
  • Access to vaccination programmes, including subsidies available to the elderly
  • Vaccine uptake rates

b. Benefits of life-course immunisation, including:

  • Direct cost-benefit, such as medical and hospitalisation costs
  • Indirect cost-benefit, such as minimised lost workdays from hospitalisation, increased productivity and reduced caregiver costs

c. Current government/public healthcare expenditure allocated to life-course immunisation and strategies to sustain funding

d. Innovative ways to obtain economic resources to fund life-course immunisation programmes

e. Measurement of impact, including but not limited to:

  • Feasibility and impact of approach to target population
  • Health budget impact
  • Cost-effectiveness of implementation

Format: PPT, maximum of 25 slides; To be presented during the closing webinar

All submitted material must be original and created by participant. Any previously published content must be properly attributed to the original author in the submission as references.

8. Can I submit my entry in any language other than English?

Only entries in English will be considered.

9. Can I submit multiple entries?

One person can only submit one entry. Additional submissions will not be accepted.

10. Can I change or delete my entry?

Once you have submitted your entry, but would like to change or delete your entry, please contact the secretariat via email: apachecon@gcihealth.com

11. When is the deadline of entry submission?

The deadline for entry submission is 17 November 2023. Entries submitted after deadline will not be considered.

12. When and how will I find out if my entry has been successfully submitted?

A notification email will be sent to the contact email listed upon receipt of an entry.

Judging criteria
13. How will submissions be evaluated?

Each entry should be focused on sharing ideas demonstrating the value of life-course immunisation, i.e., vaccination for the elderly population, at the national level of a Southeast Asian country of choice. The story to be told within a submission should include the points listed under Question 7.

14. What are the judging criteria?

The evaluation of each entry will be focused on sharing ideas demonstrating the value of life-course immunisation, i.e., vaccination for the elderly population, at the national level a Southeast Asian country of choice. The evaluation will be based on the following qualities:

  • Clear qualitative definition of a focus problem and the quantified size of the problem
  • Proof/evidence of the proposed solution (e.g., ROI) (Feasibility)
  • Scalability of the proposed solution
  • Qualitative impact of the proposed solution (Impact)
  • Overall presentation of results, including creativity therein
 15. Who will judge the entries?

An independent panel of regional healthcare experts from public health, policy and academia will review each entry and vote on one entry as the best submission, per category. The decision of the judges is final, and no appeals will be entertained.

16. How many best submissions will be selected?

One submission each from the Rising Stars category and the Working Professionals category will be selected as the Best submission.

17. When and how will the best submissions be notified?

The applicant with the best submissions will be notified by the end of November via email. Those who were not successful in their entry will likewise be notified.

 A formal announcement of the best submissions will be made during a webinar organised by SEADS and EU-ABC, supported by Sanofi. Please refer to Question 18.

18. When and where will the best submissions be announced?

The applicants with the best submissions will be announced virtually on 05 Dec 2023, during a webinar organised by SEAD and EU-ABC, supported by Sanofi. Details of the webinar will be announced closer to date.

19. What will the best submissions receive?

The applicants with the best submissions will receive a mentorship opportunity by an external professional health sector practitioner(s) from the judging panel. They will also be provided with the opportunity to present their ideas during a regional webinar co-hosted by SEADS and EU-ABC and supported by Sanofi. The best submission entries will also be presented with a certificate of recognition from SEADS, EU-ABC and Sanofi.

21. How will my submission be used?

You agree that as a condition of participating in the initiative or submitting an entry that the entry is either owned by yourself and will not be treated as confidential by the organiser and may be used by the organiser in any manner including marketing, displaying them on various websites, or through other media as appropriate.
